Baptism

We’re glad you have expressed an interest in baptism. Here is a little explanation of how and why we baptize people at the Sycamore Church.

Here at Sycamore, we practice baptism by immersion (being completely submerged under the water) – which we believe best matches the method practiced in the Bible; showing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. And it was the method by which Jesus was baptized.

We believe baptism does not save you from your sins but is an outward expression of the decision you have already made in faith. This outward expression shows the world our decision we made to follow Jesus and be forgiven of our sins.

It shows the world that our old life was crucified, our old life was dead and buried, and our new transformed life is raised up to follow Jesus.
