In the Book of Exodus the Israelites followed the presence of God through the wilderness. Wherever the pillar of fire and the cloud went, that is where the Israelites built the tabernacle that God had instructed them to make for Him. The Sycamore Church has had much the same experience in its sixteen years of existence...
Let us explain.
The Sycamore Church began in the home of Dusty and Audrey Reynolds.
We have met at the Baptist Student Center at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
We have met under the name of Southwest Community Church, Rivers Community Church,
The Sycamore @ Mid-town, The Hill, West Chatham, and Rincon.
Sometimes we have been a church of multiple locations,
although in this season we have come together again as one.
The buildings we have gathered in have been schools, dance studios,
and borrowed sanctuaries. Wherever God has led us, He has blessed us with favor.
Once again, God is moving us, this time in a rather remarkable way.
To allude to a story in Acts 10, God has been speaking to us about the next step at the
same time that He has been speaking to another group of believers about their next step.
For The Sycamore Church, this move of God has been nothing short of miraculous.
You see, God had impressed upon the leadership that we should not build a building.
He also had impressed upon us that we should not purchase a building.
Here’s the miraculous part. In following God, He has given us a building,
free of charge with no strings attached. In an ironic twist that only God could orchestrate,
the name of the congregation that is giving us their property is “Tabernacle.”
We invite you to join us as we follow God’s leadership once more in this season of anticipation.
